On Friday, Jenny organized a one day trip to Melaka. The main purpose of the trip is to, surprisingly - eat. Secondary purpose includes visiting historical places.

It was a day packed with fun-filling activities. Click Read More to read the rest of the story.

I woke up at 5.30a.m. that day, picked up Khai Yin at 6 and reached college at 6.30a.m. Never had I driven in a highway so smooth and clear, in a cold morning. How nice would it be if that's the situation every morning.

Basically everyone was punctual, the bus left at 6.45a.m. and throughout the trip, most of us were sleeping while those who are still awake spend their time playing cards.

At 8.45a.m. we reached our first destination, a dim sum restaurant. Owing to our large number, we were seated in 3 large round tables, and the dim sum were placed on our tables directly, we only had to tell them what we did not want and they would be taken away. Quite surprisingly, despite taking quite alot of dim sum, eached of us only ended up paying RM9, that's quite cheap and definitely a deal one can't find in KL.

Then we headed to A Famosa, Stadthuys and few other places to camwhore and take alot of pictures appreciate the history behind the places.

We had to walk to almost everywhere we wanted to go although we had the chartered bus at our disposal as most of the tourist attractions are off limit to big busses.

After the tiring morning, we headed to Jonket street for the famous chicken rice ball. I don't see what's so special about the chicken rice ball, it's just chicken rice rolled into ball, any other shops could do that. At least the chicken rice seems better then what we had at white.

After lunch, we proceeded to the Baba Nyonya private musuem. It's basically a house along Jonket Street which features a typical traditional Baba & Nyonya house. Admission is RM8 per person which includes a guided tour in the house. We were briefed on the typical Baba house and things you usually find in such houses. The musuem is being managed by the grandchildren of the first occuptant of the house. The guided tour was very informative, they seemed to have a very simple but happy life.

Next, we went for some refreshment. We had the famous Melaka cendol, basically Cendol with gula melaka on it. I didn't really like it, would have preferred the normal ice kacang instead. But I didn't endure that 2 hours trip just to try something I have back at KL.

Then we went back to the bus for a quick rest as the bus headed to Museum Samudera. It's a museum built on a replica of one of the Dutch ship if I'm not mistaken. Entrance was RM3, and inside there, we get to know what it feels like to be inside a real ancient ship. Historical facts were put up along the hull of the ship.

After the musuem tour, we were supposed to visit the observation tower but as we did not have enough time and fatigue already took its toll on most of us, we decided to rest in the bus before heading for dinner at another famous Melaka food stall which sells Satay Celup.

I won't call it Satay Celup, it seems more like a "luk luk" stall you can find at a pasar malam with the exception that instead of dipping the stick in the hot water, you dip the stick in the satay peanut sauce. I was quite hungry so I did not hesitate with the food, in the end I took 25 sticks which cost me RM15 inclusive of the drinks.

After that, we went to Jonker Street to walk along the night market. Nothing really special there, it's just another pasar malam but things are definitely cheaper there. Char Koay Teow is only RM3, now tell me where can you find one in KL.

With the conclusion of the Jonket Street walk, it's time to head home to KL. Initially we wanted to watch some movies and the bus offered a horror movie but many could not take it so the plan was aborted.

Reached college at 11p.m. and the whole car park was empty except for our cars. It was really a tired day, and I slept halfway while uploading the pictures.
