After all the exams, I finally manage to find time to walk around in Lowyat Plaza. I went there this afternoon to NetRaid office at Sun Complex within walking distance from Lowyat Plaza to collect my MP3 player which I mentioned I won yesteday. I have to admit, the building looks like a pre World War II buildings or some old hospitals. The lightnings are very dark along the corridor, and you can see the bricks and the cement that make up the walls of the building. It might be slightly creepy to walk alone at night.

This photo was taken using prolonged exposure mode (night mode). On normal mode you can barely see anything.

When I pressed the lift to the 8th floor (thank god it's not fourth floor), I could hear all the fans powering up prior to the lift opening its door for me to go in. So anyway, I went into their office and collected the MP3 player and a Gainward mousepad, I got it just in time as the old one which came free with my graphics card purchase was faulty and the warranty claim was denied on the basis that it was a free gift.

So anyway, here is the DiGiSound MP3 player, I still remembered the time when MP3 player just came out when I was in form 1 or 2 and I went to PC Fair with my friend to get one. It was only 128MB yet it came with a hefty price tag of RM250. With that amount now, I could easily get a branded one from Creative.

Then after that I went to Lowyat Plaza to check out the HTC Touch Pro (Raphael). I have heard of it , watched the reviews , read the reviews but never played around with it so this time I really had to play with one of the most anticipated PDA of all time. The retail price is around RM3099 and comes with loads of freebies such as Bluetooth headset, car charger, car stand and a memory card. While some of you might be crazy over Iphone 3G which cost around the same price, I would rather go for Touch Pro as there's more things that can be done with it, it's really a productivity tool. Many people who bought this device never know how to use them and end up selling them off within first week of purchase at the price of around RM2400. I wanted to buy one, but I decided to hold my purchase as I focus on my studies and wait till year end when Xperia X1 and Touch HD would be released. This would surely bring the price of Touch Pro down.

It comes with 3.2MP camera, 5 row QWERTY slide out keyboard, accelerometer, VGA screen and many more.

I went to few shops to play with the same device because I know that the salesman won't be happy if I play too long without buying so I pretended like I want to buy, asking about price, trying to nego, writing down the price and so on.

Then it's to Sri Computers to find some friends and check out some of the new stuffs they have in Lowyat. I went to the speakers section and I'm ammused by Sonic Gear new improvised speaker cover.

As you can see in all the 3 pictures above, the tweeters are covered with cellophane tapes to prevent custoemrs with itchy fingers like me from poking it. Sonic Gear speakers have always been criticized for its poor performance and their over emphasis on design which leads to funny speakers like those shown above - the drivers are not protected at all.

Before I left LYP, I checked out the Acer booth where they showcased their latest Acer gaming series, the Predator. I guess Acer wants to grab a chunk of the market share from Dell with their XPS gaming series. However, gaming enthusiasts like me would always prefer to custom build the gaming rig ourselves.

But I really like the Predator design. Even the monitor are coated with orange colour.

Before I left, I managed to chat with Ah Shui from PC Zone. We were talking about the price of LCD monitors. He told me that a a particular 22 inch LCD monitor from Samsung - 2253BW would cost RM895 but a reduction in 0.4 inch (21.6 inches) of the same monitor - 2253LW would cost RM685. That's a huge difference, everything else is the same, just the slight difference in the size.

I also went to see Kar Hoe from Inter-Asia (ya, another guy with the same name) and we chatted a little about Silverstone products and Edifier products.

If I were to change to a 22 inch monitor from my existing 19 inch monitor to accomodate for HD gaming, I would have to change my speakers as well as my current Edifier M2300 could not be hung on the wall. Seems like M3300SF would do the trick.

I've to disagree on HTC's newest Windows Mobile devices. Surely they are great but its annoying at the same time , especially when Windows crashes and other crap. I rather have iPhone 3G (which I am saving for) rather then this HTC. Sorry , HTC seems to be nice but when it comes to daily use , Windows Mobile is still not great

Lol, with the right cooked ROM, and the correct configuration, it would work flawlessly.

Well, I guess iphone 3G is catered for people who have the same thoughts like you where as HTC has designed PDA which have its own group of users.

I favour WM because it's very flexible, it has a the most softwares available compared to Symbian and so on
