PETALING JAYA: Toll collection at the Kuala Lumpur-bound toll plaza at PJS2 on the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) will be abolished as of 12:01am Saturday.
The Cabinet decided to do away with the RM1.60 toll last week, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed on Friday.
Mohd Zin did not specify the amount of compensation to be paid to concessionaire NPE Sdn Bhd. Officials of the consessionaire could not be reached.
A small but noisy crowd of Umno, PAS and PKR supporters turned up to support the abolition of the toll, which was considered a Valentine’s Day gift not only to road users heading to Kuala Lumpur but also for the 30,000 residents of nearby Taman Medan and Kampung Dato’ Haron.
However, Taman Medan assemblyman Haniza Mohd Talha (PKR) said the Government must also abolish the toll on the opposite side of the highway, heading towards Subang Jaya and Kelana Jaya.
What else I have to say?
From the info I gathered, that freaking road on which the toll is built upon existed way before Samy Vellu even existed, just because NPE links to it, they put up a toll there, which I find very very ridiculous. Seems like I can save up to RM1.60 everyday, but the long queue through the housing areas leading to the highway will make me think twice. At least for now, I can now happily avoid that 15 bumps going through Kampung Medan where motorcyclists without helmets zoom pass you just like that if I were to take that road.
Well, just a note, not ALL toll booth would be abolished, just the one from Kelana Jaya/Subang Jaya (Not Sunway) near PJS2 would be abolished
If you are travelling from Sunway, and would like to avoid the toll, study the maps below.
First of all, this is the normal route that you take through the toll

This is the first bypass, however be warned that you have to make one illegal left turning after you turned down into underpass roundabout. (Jalan PJS 5/1)

Finally, this is the second shortcut, longer but legally safe, no illegal turns
