I'm sure all of you have heard of what BitTorrent and Peer 2 Peer is all about. The technology is legal, but what you download most of the time isn't. Most of the time, we think we won't get detected or whatever. But recently, the copyright enforcers are doing more.
First of all, they are getting court orders to make sure all BitTorrent trackers track the IP and files downloads, that is an invasion of privacy? ! TorrentSpy is one of the first, read more about it hereThen, some local Jaring P2P users have been seeding some movies, and got detected by the enforcers, who got his IP address and sent an email to his ISP ( Jaring ) , click 'read more' to read the letter
So what if you want to download something with privacy? You got two options
1) Subscribe to Virtual Private Network (VPN) service, you can find many in Lowyat.net Forums, the VPN server acts as a proxy server where all your traffic are directed there and it is encrypted, but find a reliable one, they can read your traffic which is not encrypted, but at least the ISP can't
2) Subscribe to TorrentFlux . This is something better, most servers located in datacenters are able to connect to Internet at full 100mbps speed. So you upload your torrentfile to the server, let it download to the server at super high speed, then you download it to your PC using HTTP, HTTP is the protocol which is used to browse webpages. So your ISP can't throttle or block your downloads as it will affect normal Internet surfing experience.
Whatever is it, remmember, BitTorrent is LEGAL, what you download might not be ! So if you think you can get away with seeding illegal stuff, think again  Next news, ever heard of Windows Genuine Advantage? Well, probably you have heard, it is the software installed on your PC which verifies your operating system with the server each time you turn on your PC, it is supposed to give you 'advantage' but it seems to be a total 'disadvantage' when their server broke down causing millions of verified PC considered 'illegal' after their PC failed to be verified. Ridiculous ? Now Microsoft is planning to release Windows XP ( yes, its XP ) Service Pack 3, which some have said, did not have much difference except for one - Windows Genuine Advantage is included.
If you think you are stuck with Windows? There are other options, do consider Linux ! It's free, it's open source, and even the disc can be delivered to your house for free !
