So the rumours are confirmed, Najib has formed our Malaysia first F1 team. And what else would be a better name if not 1Malaysia F1 Team like everyone else have predicted.
Don't worry, this is not any indication of how the real car would look.
Speaking to reporters at Ministry of Finance in Putrajaya, Najib said the Malaysian F1 team will be based at the Sepang circuit with pit stop staff coming from Malaysia.
"It will be a Malaysia manufactured car," said a proud Najib, adding that a race to find a suitable Malaysian driver was underway.
Six drivers shortlisted
A statement issued during the press release stated that the team will reveal its two drivers by Oct 31. At present, six local and international drivers have been shortlisted for evaluation.
Here's some interesting facts about the team.
1) Main sponsors - Petronas and AirAsia, that means BMW Sauber (not in 2010 list moments ago, their participation 2010 GP is confirmed) loses another sponsor and Williams would have to find another one. Other sponsors include Proton and Lotus.
2) Team principle - Tony Fernandez. Now everyone can race eh? Expect to see the entire team painted on one of those Airbus owned by Tony. Tony surely got a high profile in F1 paddock now, even Sir Richard Branson is not a team principle, but only a sponsor of Brawn GP
3) Pit crews will be from Malaysia - anyone into this? Just make sure you pull out the fuel rig properly.
4) Facilities - Based in Sepang in the future. So the Ferrari have their tracks in Monza and and Maranello, we have our own Sepang track. Currently, RTN facilities based in Norfolk, which was built by Toyota for its initial Formula One programme and then used by Bentley for its successful Le Mans programme.
5) Car - The car will be a Buatan Malaysia product. Don't worry la, can tahan one.
6) Engine - Cosworth - no wonder they could get a place. It's rumoured that this engine could be few seconds slower than Mercedez.
7) Technical director - Mike Gascoyne - 20 years experience with Jordan, Renault, Toyota, and most recently Force India. He could be next in the list to receive a Datukship
8) Drivers - 2 local and 4 international drivers under consideration. I have a feeling Fairuz Fauzy is one of the 2 local drivers.
As for me, I think this is actually a good idea, the team is merely sponsored by existing F1 sponsors with Proton and Lotus participation having their own agenda.
Hopefully one day this team would perform as good Force India and we can hear Negaraku on the podium before Force India can hear their national anthem.
For most of us, Nintendo Wii brings a whole lot of fun to us, by having alot of physical interaction with the game. Games like Wii Fit will definitely give fitness centres a run for their money. After all, why bother travelling so far to fitness centre when there's one right in your living room?
In the real world out there, there are much better use of the Nintendo Wii, thanks to the accelerometer sensors in the device.
3) Now the latest of all - to help treat patient who has just recovered from strock. Apparently the Wii Board which sells for a mere USD100 works as good as the balancing board used in hospitals. The only difference is the latter comes with a price tag of a whooping $18,000 USD.
Now this is really a breakthrough in the medical industry. Smaller clinics can afford them, and so are those elderly patients who can recuperate from the comfort of their home. So says who gaming is bad for health?
One fine day in the multimedia zone in the library, I needed to use the PC and I started looking for one which was unoccupied. Ever since the college changed the old PC to one which is more powerful, the multimedia zone seems to be packed each day. After scanning through, I found on empty PC, walked towards it and I saw this message on the screen.
It says :
Question : What is the meaning of Life, the Universe and Everything? Unless you can answer, no using the computer. If you fail to do this, you will be CURSED!!!
Apparently, a selfish person was occupying the PC beside the PC shown above, and was opening few browsers playing on Farmville, then he had a netbook with him which was running Farmville on multiple browsers. And the reason why he hoarded this '3rd' PC was to do the same thing.
I had a chance to play with the latest Ipod Shuffle 3rd generation. It's a very simple player but packed with many unique features.
On the left, is the earphone, then the Ipod Shuffle, and the USB charger ala data transfer cable. I am particular amazed with Apple's engineering, having able to embed USB data cable onto a 3.5mm jack.
It also features a reflective clip. On the player, there's nothing that a user can fiddle with but a tab that switches between OFF, shuffle and repeat mode. Self explanatory via the icons.
The volume control is positioned along the earphone which allows ease of access. The unique part of this device is that by holding the middle button, it would read out the title of the song being played. I was really amazed with the accuration of the pronouncation. Being a unique product, seems like Apple has adopted a diffrentiation strategy eh. In terms of Bowman strategy clock, I guess it's strategy clock number 4 for differentiation strategy. (Sorry, been studying alot of P3 - Business Analaysis recently
The sound quality is also up to expectation.
Along with other package contents is an Apple logo sticker. I proudly sticked that to my PC Casing. I guess I'm halfway becoming an iFag.
I used to play guitar since a decade ago but eventually the interest faded away and I stopped playing guitar. Unfortunately I also got myself busy with my studies at a young age that I didn't have time for guitar.
Another reason I stopped playing guitar is because I had a deep cut on my let index finger, so deep that I almost sliced off away the tip of my index finger. That happened because I was fooling around when cutting an orange with a sharp knife many years back.
I learned the lesson the hard way. Till today I can't really feel the tip of my index finger. Back then when I cut my finger and the blood dried out, I could flap the skin and have a peak at the cross section of my own finger LOL.
Picture taken from my Photos archive.
I still remember that I used to practice guitar with my many 'brothers'
I suddenly had the interest to play guitar once again, and it was partly inspired by my former guitar teacher, William Kok. I borrowed the guitar from my neighbour Robest Yong and this is the first song that I can play after years of abandoning the hobby.
It wasn't really a good one since I just cut my nails and my skills are kind of rusty, but more to come.
