Compro Videomate IP50W review PDF Print E-mail

A few weeks back, I received yet another parcel from Compro Taiwan delivered via TNT. Opened it up and it turns out to be the Compro IP50W which was sent by Compro for testing and review purpose. Compro IP50W is Compro Technology's first attempt to penetrate into the home surveillance market. Before this, the company was one of a major players in the TV Tuner industry, having produced so many TV Tuners over the years.

Compro IP50w is an IP CCTV. An IP CCTV differs from a conventional CCTV as an IP CCTV connects to a LAN environment, gets it's own IP address, transmits images digitally whereas a conventional CCTV transmits analogue video signal to a decoder which will then convert it into digital signal.

I will cover more of the differences between IP CCTV and conventional CCTV as we move on.

Innity vs Nuffnang PDF Print E-mail
Written by Kar Hoe

Innity has been around for quite sometime, but it seems like before this, they were not into online advertising until recently. I have tried few online advertising company already and I believe that Innity is the one that has been paying the highest rate.

As we all know, Advertlets seems to be worst both in CPM rate as well as cashing out the earnings, apart from delays, you probably get notified that your clicks are invalid. Initially, Advertlets seems to be paying well, paying like RM1/2 per day based on a humble 150 hits a day, I remembered a particular day when it suddenly drop to 10/20 cents per day, that's when I added Nuffnang ads.

Nuffnang ads seems to be paying better, especially when you're a Gliterrati member, I used to get like RM2 each day on average, but only if I have active campaigns running, and those are hard to get.

It was until I discovered Innity, Innity is an online advertising company, and only exclusive publishers get to sign up with them. They have very strict criteria which includes having around 10,000 hits each month, frequent updated contents, etc. Each application is strictly monitor unlike Nuffnang, where you just have to go to Blog Manager and add another website, and ads will begin appearing. Fortunately I managed to sign up with them, and within my first 2 weeks of usage, I already earn RM50 from them, now pending cashout.

If you have a website or blog that receives high hits, you should consider signing up with Innity as well. Else, stick with Nuffnang. Nuffnang seems to have a closer relationship with bloggers with their events, movie premiers, etc but Innity is a serious, no-nonsense company.

Received my last cheque from Nuffnang, it has been a great year with Nuffnang.

After reading numerous good reviews on this laptop, I decided to get not one but two of this laptop, not for me of course. This is probably the best laptop that you can get if you do not wish to pay for a Windows license, perhaps you already have a license, perhaps you want to install open source like Ubuntu.

As this model is being phased out, I went to great length, calling few dealers and I finally managed to obtain the very last 2 units. The total for both laptops are slightly above RM4000.

These are the laptop specifications :-

AMD Turionâ„¢ X2 Dual-Core Mobile Processor RM-74 2.2Ghz
14.1" TFT WXGA high definition widescreen LCD panel with brightview technology;
3GB 667MHz
320GB HDD
DVD +/- RW Double Layer Drive with LightScribe;
Bluetooth;
802.11b/g;
Integrated 10Mbps, 100Mbps;
ports include USB 2.0 (3), VGA, HDMI, RJ-11, RJ-45, 1 headphone, 1 microphone jack,
Compaq Webcam with integrated microphone;
5-in-1 intergrated digital media reader slot;
ATI Radeon HD 3450 Graphics with 512MB
Free Nylon Carrying Case;
One year International Limited Warranty (parts/labor/carry-in)

Within hours, RM4000 is exchanged for 2 laptops. From this...

It comes with a nylon bag as well.

Then I started installing all the operating systems, drivers, softwares and updates.

Installing Windows Updates. (No, the pictures are authentic, no Photoshop duplication)

After using this laptop for few days, I can say that the performance is very good. Windows Aero works without any issue, the only concern is the heat. It get's very hot, up to 100C at times, so it's time to invest in a Cooler Master Notepal cooling pad.

TNN hosting PDF Print E-mail

Ren Kwan recently told me about this local hosting company, TNN hosting which provided a cheap yet fast hosting service. If you have been following me on my blog, you would realize that it loads much faster now. I would have stayed with my previous hosting provider, Byethost , but they simply could not provide fast surfing speed over here to Malaysia users.

On top of that, it comes with a buy one free one promotion, so it seems to be a good deal. The speed can be felt immediately, try accessing the photo album , the photos now load instantly.

e900f-1.jpgI just received the Compro VideoMate E900F in a secure package a few days ago after waiting for so long. It's priced around  £87.09 and can be purchased here. I haven't got the time to write a comprehensive review, so I will just cover briefly on the tuner only.

Package was delivered in good condition by OCS courier.

It's a Chinese model, but it doesn't matter as I just have to install the English driver. I even got a Compro water bottle and a wrist cushion.
