| It's like an annual pilgrim to the clinic. December is like the sick season for me. Last year, I was vomiting everything I ate even hours before my CAT exam, it was so frustrating. I remembered throwing out like 8 times just few hours before the exam. In the end, the paper wasn't well attempted.
I thought things would have been better this December, hell no! After returning from my Bukit Cahaya trip (will blog about this after the exam), I began to have flu, must have been due to those ice cold Coke!
Today it became worse, my nose was leaking mucus constantly, went to see doctor and tadaa! I am having mild fever! The ACCA fever! God bless me that I will be ready for my exam!
Drugs for cough, fever, sore throat, anti-biotics.

| On the West of the campus, students can park their cars just beside the college for free. (LOL @ those studying at SS15). Parking here would be challenging as the lines were not drawn properly, resulting in some 'boxes' being bigger than the other, and some being too small.
Most of the cars out there have reverse sensors, but Sunway students' cars are far more superior, we have front sensors, which allows us to park our cars so close to the kurb, even a lizard can't squeeze through the gap.

| The whole Internet community goes hoo haa when Streamyx announce the free upgrade promotion for existing subscriber. Some of them are frustrated because they have just signed up and would not be eligible as they are still bound to their existing contract, and one of those disgruntled customers include me.
As I am using Streamyx Combo package, getting the Internet speed of 1Mbps, (and I have just recently upgraded making me not eligible for the super upgrade promotion), effectively it means I am paying an additional RM15 each month compared to those who opted for this upgrade (RM110 - 95). Shouldn't have upgraded earlier, right?
But after thinking for a while, I realized that maybe there is a catch behind this promotion. By opting for the 'super upgrade', it would tie you to a 24 months contract, hence Streamyx could be sure of their future cash flow in the next 24 months.
I believe that in 4 months time, the 'super upgrade price' will be extended to all customers.
Think of it this way, TM could be planning to upgrade our Internet speed, perhaps due to Government's pressure (or pressure from it's 'Potong' rival) but imagine if Streamyx were to announce today that all packages price will be reduced, that will mean a major loss of revenue if you consider the millions of subscribers that Streamyx has.
So TM could have decided that they 'secure' the cash flow by giving you the 'free upgrade' for the first 4 months, and paying a minimal RM5/10 for the upgrade package forever.
Why 4 months? Because I believe by the 4th month, the 'super upgrade' price could be extended to all subscribers. If they were to do, they only have 2 options.
1) Existing subscribers 'forced' to upgrade by paying that RM5/10 to the newer package (like how Astro always raises its price).
2) Reduce the price that existing customer is paying instead of offering them an upgraded package at a higher price as per Option 1 above. Again as this option would result in TM losing a very substantial cash flows instantly, option 1 seems to be what could be happening in the next 4 months.
So to upgrade or not to upgrade? If you upgrade, you could be bonded to pay the 'upgraded' price by the time the price of your existing package is reduced in the next 4 months.
What I deduce above, is just what I think, it may not be true, and I do not have any sources, and of course, as a disclaimer, I do not represent TM, it's just what I feel.

| I rememebered a year ago, each time our T8 lecturer, Mr Jay gave a 30 min break, PCM, Han and I will head straight to the computer lab to read latest political news, back then the local politic scene was more interesting than Astro On Demand's Moonlight Resonance.
Before this, all students of Sunway University College have access to Malaysiakini, paid edition as the college has subscribed to their campus plan. One just had to click IP Login button to read the news.
It's the same today, but now, student of Sunway would be able to have access to Malaysiakini even from the comfort of their house!
Just proceed to this website and login with your library card number, default password being 1234.
If done correctly, you will be redirected to Malaysiakini's website via a proxy, now just hit on the IP Login button and voila, I have just made better use of my student's resource fee.

| A few weeks back, I received yet another parcel from Compro Taiwan delivered via TNT. Opened it up and it turns out to be the Compro IP50W which was sent by Compro for testing and review purpose. Compro IP50W is Compro Technology's first attempt to penetrate into the home surveillance market. Before this, the company was one of a major players in the TV Tuner industry, having produced so many TV Tuners over the years.
Compro IP50w is an IP CCTV. An IP CCTV differs from a conventional CCTV as an IP CCTV connects to a LAN environment, gets it's own IP address, transmits images digitally whereas a conventional CCTV transmits analogue video signal to a decoder which will then convert it into digital signal.
I will cover more of the differences between IP CCTV and conventional CCTV as we move on.
