The first round was great, I missed it all together, I didn't know they showed it on TV but luckily the highlights were available on the Internet.

Watch the highlights below

The two goals scored by our Malaysian no. 17 squad were amazing, perhaps Man Utd should sign him, LOL. (or perhaps me, haha)

Now, it's time to look forward to the 2nd match on Monday, I believe Man Utd would be playing more serious and give our players a hard time.

Disappointing weekend PDF Print E-mail

At this moment, I'm supposed to be at Terengganu, Lake Kenyir Resort, enjoying my paid vacation as a crew of an outdoor adventure race.

On Friday, a day before the race, I have prepared everything, and barely 12 hours before the event, I received an SMS from the organizer.

"Team, sorry to inform u all tht we gotto CALL OFF d outdoor adventure race tis weekend due to matters arised. U can have d crew tshirt n d mgt wld like to thnk u for team effort during d preparation period. V look forward to hv all of u again in our future event. ".

I was so disappointed, I was really looking forward towards this event. Apparently the race was called off due to H1N1.

Since the whole thing is called off, I won't be getting any salary, yet I have already worked for them few days prior to the event, helping to pack the goodie bags, ain't I entitled to salary on a quantum meruit basis?

It's very disappointing.

How we can solve the PPSMI fiasco PDF Print E-mail

I am totally shocked when I heard that the Government will revert the decision to teach both these subjects in Malay. I was the pioneer batch who started learning these 2 subjects in English back in Form 1, Year 2003. Eventhough I knew being the pioneer batch is akin to being a test rat, and that the teachers might not cope well in teaching us, I looked forward to it because I know it's very beneficial to us.

Then, the Internet came to my house, I got access to a slow dialup Internet, slow but I can already use it to search for things that I do not understand. Eventually I moved up to Form 4 and broadband came, I could search for things that I was interested in, and could instantly understand that articles.

Then, Year 2009 came and the Government announced the decision to revert the PPSMI, it's like moving backwards. Can you imagine, that I have a younger brother who have been learning these 2 subjects in English and would have to learn everything in Malay when he goes to Form 1? This is absurd.

Education policies are no politicial tools, I am pissed at the opposition already for having pushed for the abolishment of PPSMI.

Here, I would like to give 2 suggestions.

1) If it is true that students could learn the 2 languages in their mother's tongue better (Malay, Chinese, Tamil), may I suggest that this 2 subjects be taught in their mother's tongue in primary level (since it is claimed that they could learn easier in their mother's tongue, this will build a solid foundation) but let the teaching of these 2 subjects be done in English in Secondary level. The progression of the teaching of these 2 subjects have to be done somewhere, it cannot happen in the Pre-U level when the students should be focused on their studies instead of translations. Hence, a win-win situation would be to begin the transition in Form 1. I went through that path, learning Science & Maths in Malay in primary level and then in English beginning in secondary level. I believe this suggestion this is the most practical one, it's true that some young children might not understand Science & Mathematics at young age, what else to learn them in English which some might not understand as well. Hence, the teaching of these 2 subjects in their mother's tongue might build their foundation, but meanwhile, their English must be enforced to prepare them for a transition to the teaching of these 2 subjects in English at secondary level.

2) Let school choose which language they want to teach the subjects in. It is undeniable that students in urban area are 100% against the decision to teach these 2 subjects in English reverted. So let school in urban areas teach these 2 subjects in English while those at rural areas can continue teaching it at their mothers tongue. Surely this is the best solution as no one loses out. After all, school can choose which literature novels they want to teach in their school English lessons (Form 3-5)

Politicians, this is for the future of our country, it is not too late to reverse the decision. The voters are smart, do the Government seriously think that PPSMI will lose them alot of votes?

If the Government claim that they have insufficient teachers who are competent to teach the 2 subjects in English, they must remember, PPSMI has just been implemented not too long ago. If this is allowed to continued for few more years, eventually people who have learned these 2 subjects in English will enter the job market as a teacher perhaps, and when the whole cycle continues, eventually the problem will be solved.

A busy Saturday PDF Print E-mail

I had a very productive Saturday. In the morning, it was my first time becoming a 'kelefeh' in a Digi Music TVC. It's all for a 1 minute commercial, but the shooting took 5 hours. I can't wait to watch the end product. It should be ready and aired anytime this week.

Basically, we were supposed to cheer as if we are in a rock concert. While everyone was giving that hip hop cheer, Alex, Jason and I decided to give that Usain Bolt celebration pose. Not sure if we can be seen doing that Laughing.

The whole shooting + lunch ended at 1pm. Then we rushed home for a quick nap before our team briefing at 3pm. For those of you who do not know yet, I will be heading to Lake Kenyir this Saturday and Sunday as part of a team of crews and marshals in the OUTDOOR ADVENTURE RACE '09.

During the briefing, we were already assigned with our tasks and we were left to be independant. Without any supervision, we have to draft out and present how we are going to handle any tasks assigned to us. I am so looking forward to this event because it will be my first time participating in such an event and on top of that, we would be given a sponsored car to drive there.

This is the brochure and if you are interested, you can contact me and I will help you guys to sign up.

New semester begins PDF Print E-mail

Finally the new semester have commenced, I am placed in Group 5 and this time we are merged with Group 1 from previous semester making the group a big one.

I am fine with the existing timetable except for the fact that on Wednesday and Thursday, class starts from 3-6pm. Only God knows where we can find parking at such times.

So far, I have only attended an F9 class with Ms Geetha, I actually attended her first class last semester but decided to drop it later as the burden of taking 4 papers was unacceptable to me. I remembered seeing her the next day after the first class telling her that I will see her next semester and here I am.

So new semester, new lecturers, new commitments, I'm looking forward to it.
