So the rumours are confirmed, Najib has formed our Malaysia first F1 team. And what else would be a better name if not 1Malaysia F1 Team like everyone else have predicted. Don't worry, this is not any indication of how the real car would look.
Extracts from Malaysiakini Speaking to reporters at Ministry of Finance in Putrajaya, Najib said the Malaysian F1 team will be based at the Sepang circuit with pit stop staff coming from Malaysia. "It will be a Malaysia manufactured car," said a proud Najib, adding that a race to find a suitable Malaysian driver was underway. Six drivers shortlisted A statement issued during the press release stated that the team will reveal its two drivers by Oct 31. At present, six local and international drivers have been shortlisted for evaluation. Here's some interesting facts about the team. 1) Main sponsors - Petronas and AirAsia, that means BMW Sauber (not in 2010 list moments ago, their participation 2010 GP is confirmed) loses another sponsor and Williams would have to find another one. Other sponsors include Proton and Lotus. 2) Team principle - Tony Fernandez. Now everyone can race eh? Expect to see the entire team painted on one of those Airbus owned by Tony. Tony surely got a high profile in F1 paddock now, even Sir Richard Branson is not a team principle, but only a sponsor of Brawn GP 3) Pit crews will be from Malaysia - anyone into this? Just make sure you pull out the fuel rig properly. 4) Facilities - Based in Sepang in the future. So the Ferrari have their tracks in Monza and and Maranello, we have our own Sepang track. Currently, RTN facilities based in Norfolk, which was built by Toyota for its initial Formula One programme and then used by Bentley for its successful Le Mans programme. 5) Car - The car will be a Buatan Malaysia product. Don't worry la, can tahan one. 6) Engine - Cosworth - no wonder they could get a place. It's rumoured that this engine could be few seconds slower than Mercedez. 7) Technical director - Mike Gascoyne - 20 years experience with Jordan, Renault, Toyota, and most recently Force India. He could be next in the list to receive a Datukship 8) Drivers - 2 local and 4 international drivers under consideration. I have a feeling Fairuz Fauzy is one of the 2 local drivers. As for me, I think this is actually a good idea, the team is merely sponsored by existing F1 sponsors with Proton and Lotus participation having their own agenda. Hopefully one day this team would perform as good Force India and we can hear Negaraku on the podium before Force India can hear their national anthem. Malaysia Boleh!

Why is Najib using Tony Fernandex and Naza to use Lotus as a front to get money from Petronas?
Lotus belong to Proton not Air Asia. What does Tony knows about car manufacturing?
Is it because it Proton will use Petronas money for development while Tony fernandex can curi the money away.
Why? Rakyat not stupid now adays.
